The Transport Department of West Bengal integrates with the centralized Parivahan Sarathi portal. Citizens can apply for a Learner’s License from home via Aadhaar e-KYC and take the computer test online. Permanent DLs require a physical driving test at the local RTO.

Eligibility Criteria

16+ years for gearless two-wheelers (with parent consent). 18+ years for all other non-transport vehicles. 20+ years for commercial transport vehicles.

Required Documents

• Aadhaar Card (serves as Age and Address proof)
• Medical Certificate Form 1A (mandatory if age > 40 or for commercial DL)

Application Process

1. Visit sarathi.parivahan.gov.in and select West Bengal.

2. Choose ‘Apply for Learner License’.

3. Authenticate via Aadhaar for a faceless process.

4. Upload documents (if required) and pay the fee.

5. Take the online LL test.

6. After 30 days, apply for a Permanent DL and book a driving test slot.
