Overview & Benefits

DigiLocker is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Electronics & IT under Digital India. It provides a secure cloud account to every Indian citizen to access authentic digital documents/certificates (like driving licenses, vehicle registration, academic mark sheets) directly from the original issuers. Documents in DigiLocker are legally recognized at par with original physical documents under the IT Act.

Eligibility Criteria

Any Indian resident possessing a valid Aadhaar number.

Required Documents

• Aadhaar Card (Must be linked to an active mobile number for initial OTP verification)

Application Process

1. Download the DigiLocker app (Android/iOS) or visit digilocker.gov.in.

2. Click ‘Sign Up’.

3. Enter your Aadhaar number and OTP.

4. Set a 6-digit security PIN.

5. Start fetching and issuing documents from various government and educational departments.
