The Goods and Services Tax (GST) portal provides a single interface for all taxpayers to fulfill compliances across India. It replaced multiple indirect taxes with a unified system. Businesses use it for new registration, filing GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, paying tax liabilities, claiming Input Tax Credit (ITC), and generating E-Way Bills.

Eligibility Criteria

Mandatory for businesses dealing in goods crossing a turnover of Rs. 40 Lakhs (Rs. 20 Lakhs in special states) or services crossing Rs. 20 Lakhs. Also mandatory for e-commerce operators, casual taxable persons, and inter-state suppliers.

Application Process

1. Go to gst.gov.in.

2. Under ‘Services’, select ‘Registration’ > ‘New Registration’.

3. Generate TRN using PAN, email, and mobile.

4. Fill the comprehensive Part-B form and upload documents.

5. Perform Aadhaar authentication.

6. GSTIN is generated within 7 days.
