Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is a National Mission for Financial Inclusion. It aims to ensure access to financial services—banking, savings, remittance, credit, insurance, and pension—in an affordable manner. Accounts have no minimum balance requirement and provide a free RuPay debit card with inbuilt accident insurance of Rs. 2 Lakh.

Eligibility Criteria

Any Indian citizen aged 10 years and above who does not already possess a bank account can open a PMJDY account.

Required Documents

  • Aadhaar Card (If Aadhaar is present, no other document is required)

  • Alternatively: Voter ID, Driving License, PAN, Passport, or NREGA Card

Application Process

1. Visit any bank branch or Bank Mitra (Business Correspondent).

2. Ask for the PMJDY account opening form.

3. Submit the filled form along with self-attested KYC documents and a passport-size photograph.

4. The account is usually activated within 24 hours.
