A Domicile or Residential Certificate proves that a person is a permanent resident of West Bengal. It is frequently required for state-quota admissions in medical and engineering colleges (like WBJEE), and for securing government jobs reserved for local residents.
Eligibility Criteria
Persons living in West Bengal continuously for a minimum of 10 years, or those whose parents are permanent residents having a permanent address in the state.
Required Documents
- Aadhaar Card / Voter ID
- Land Deed / Property Tax Receipt / Rent Receipt
- Birth Certificate / Education Certificate showing WB address
- Passport Photo
Application Process
1. Visit the e-District WB portal.
2. Navigate to ‘Certificates’ > ‘Local Residence (Domicile) Certificate’.
3. Fill in residential details and duration of stay.
4. Upload the required proofs and submit.
5. The application is verified by the SDO/BDO, after which the certificate can be downloaded.
